Marigold (Tagetes species) has been used for centuries in traditional medicine and more recently in modern therapeutic applications. This review comprehensively examines the therapeutic benefits and processing methods of various Tagetes species. It explores the phytochemical composition of marigolds, focusing on key bioactive compounds such as lutein, zeaxanthin, and essential oils. The review discusses the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and wound-healing properties of marigold extracts, supported by in vitro and in vivo studies. Potential applications in ophthalmology, dermatology, and cancer prevention are also covered.
